My background

I originally qualified as a nurse and worked as a District Nursing Sister and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in end of life care. I then moved into educational roles as I was interested in helping staff give high quality end of life care. I worked in a hospice and then as a Senior Lecturer at Coventry University.

In 2008 I became Principal Teaching Fellow and Deputy Director of Masters Programmes and Continuing Professional Development at Warwick Medical School. This included teaching doctors and other health professionals a range of topics.

I was attracted to the RLA role because I was keen to be more involved in teaching and supporting doctors to deliver excellent patient care.

What I'd like to achieve

I’ve always enjoyed working with doctors to support them in managing the challenges and realities of their work. I’m also looking forward to working with medical students and doctors to look at how we can help them to understand our guidance.

I’m keen to hear their feedback on current medical practice. I am particularly interested in end of life care and I'm pleased to help doctors with this important part of their work.
