Ian Wilson: Yorkshire and Humber

Regional Liaison Adviser for the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The region I cover

Yorkshire and Humber region

I’m the Communitybaptistpa’s Regional Liaison Advisor in Yorkshire and Humber. The community includes large cities such as Hull, Leeds and Sheffield as well as rural areas, such as East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. The area includes some of the most deprived communities in the country.

My background

I’m a law graduate with over 30 years in the Police Service. I have spent my whole career working in, and with, communities in the Yorkshire region. My last role was as Detective Chief Superintendent, Head of Counter Terrorism policing for the North East of England. Other posts included Head of Serious and Organised Crime and lead officer developing new and innovative offender management programmes.

I have a lot of experience working in partnership with a range of organisations. It was essential to be able to negotiate and communicate effectively to develop positive relationships. This helped to keep communities safe and feeling safe.

What I’d like to achieve

I am looking forward to engaging with doctors, medical students and patient groups, to promote our work and a better understanding of our guidance. I also want to learn about the realities of their roles and experiences.

The Yorkshire and Humber region is a large and diverse area and I want to find out more about the health needs and services provided to its residents. I will do this by working closely with doctors to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
