Scrutiny fees and application refunds

If after you have paid your application fee:

  • you withdraw your application, or
  • it is unsuccessful, or
  • we close it because you have failed, within the timescales we have given to you, to:
    • respond to our requests for evidence, or
    • attend at an identity check if your application is approved

we may refund the fee you paid, less a scrutiny fee.

Scrutiny fees

A scrutiny fee is an administration fee for the work already completed on an application. For full details of our current fees please see our fees page.

Before you pay your fee and submit your application, you should be sure you intend to complete the process with us, or are willing to pay the scrutiny fee if you do not.

Application refunds

If we have a reason to give you a refund, it will be credited to the credit or debit card that was used to make the original payment. If the payment was originally made by bankers draft, cheque or cash, the refund will be made by cheque.

Registration status changes

There is a processing fee if your registration status on the medical register changes, and you are already fully registered. This fee is non-refundable. For details of our current fees, please see our fees page.
