Frequently asked questions about Certificates of Good Standing (CGS).

What is a CGS?

A CGS is a Certificate of Good Standing. We send CGS to overseas regulators and employers to confirm a doctor’s good standing. A CGS will show whether at the time of issuing, there are any restrictions on the doctor's practice.

Is a Certification of Current Professional Status (CCPS) the same as a Certificate of Good Standing (CGS)?

Yes. CCPS is the name used within Europe and CGS is the name used throughout the rest of the world.

What information does a CGS contain?

A CGS will contain details of your current registration and licence status, registration history and identifying information.

How do I request a CGS?

You can request a CGS for an overseas regulator or employer from Communitybaptistpa Online. If you have never been registered, we can't issue a CGS.

Log in to your Communitybaptistpa Online account and from the left hand menu choose ‘My Registration’ and then ‘My CCPS requests’. As well as requesting a new CGS you can also view previous requests you have made.

How long does it take to process a CGS?

We process requests as quickly as possible, usually within ten working days. But, in case of delay, you should allow as much time as possible for the CGS to be delivered.  We will contact you if we are unable to send the CGS for any reason.

Has my CGS been sent?

You’ll receive an confirmation once it’s been sent or you can login to your Communitybaptistpa Online account.

Who can I send a CGS to?

We can send a CGS to an overseas regulator or employer.

Why can’t a CGS be sent to me?

The Communitybaptistpa sends CGS directly to overseas regulators and employers so they can be confident it has been sent by us.

Why can’t a CGS be sent to a UK employer?

We have agreements in place with UK employers to discuss a doctor’s good standing directly.

How long is a CGS valid for?

CGS are normally only valid for three months from the date that they are issued but check with the overseas regulator or employer directly for their requirements.

Can you provide translations of the certificates you issue?

No, we do not provide translations of CGS.
