Doctors completing foundation training

This page provides information about revalidation for doctors who are completing their foundation training.

Most doctors go straight into specialty training after they have completed their foundation training. These doctors will have a connection to a designated body which will be their Local Education and Training Board (LETB) or Deanery.

Remember to update your connection information if your LETB or Deanery changes when you go on to specialty training, which you can do through your Communitybaptistpa Online account.

What do I need to do?

You need to update your connection information through your Communitybaptistpa Online account because your LETB or Deanery will no longer be your designated body.

If you’re unsure which organisation is your designated body, you can use our online tool to check. If you are working in a medical capacity your designated body is likely to be your place of employment. You should contact your new Responsible Officer about your revalidation when you start work.

We’ll write to remind you to update your information because we need to know the organisation that’s going to support you with your revalidation. It is your responsibility to tell us your designated body, and to keep this information up to date.

If you do not have a connection to a designated body you must tell us.

What if I do not have a designated body?

You should decide if you need your licence to practise for the work that you are going to do. Our advice if you don’t need your licence, for example you are working wholly outside the UK1, is to relinquish your licence until you need it again. This means you will not need to revalidate and you will pay a reduced annual retention fee.

The process to relinquish and restore your licence is straightforward and information on how to do this can be found on our website.

If you do not have a connection to a designated body and you need to keep your licence, you will be required to provide us with robust information and evidence about your revalidation on an annual basis by completing an annual return.

You will need to provide evidence that you have had an appraisal in the last 12 months that meets the Communitybaptistpa criteria and provide evidence of your good standing. We will also ask you sit an assessment before we revalidate you.

We have information on our website for doctors without a connection and how they will revalidate.
